The Get There Challenge is an annual competition to encourage people who live or work in Oregon to drive alone less and use transportation options more. Transportation options include biking, walking, transit, carpooling, vanpooling, or working remotely.

The Get There Challenge, now in its 11th year, is hosted by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) and its partners across the state. Learn more about ODOT’s partners here.

If there is a tie, the team that met the weekly or grand prize milestone first will win.

Absolutely! Leaderboards and weekly top teams are normalized using a formula based on average trips per team member, removing the advantage for larger teams.

  • Any trip that requires travel from one location to a second location using one of the following transportation options: Bike/E-bike, Transit/Train, Carpool, Vanpool, or Walk, Electric or Kick Scooter, Skate, Compressed Work Week, or Remote Work.
  • Trips can include travel for any purpose (work or personal) during the 15-day Challenge. Trips can be logged on any of the 15 days of the challenge (not just weekdays).
  • Please note the following:The following modes of transportation do not count toward the Challenge: Driving alone in a gas-powered or electric vehicle, motorcycles/mopeds, taxis, or rideshare (e.g. Uber, Lyft).

If you live or work in Oregon but are out of state temporarily during the duration of the Challenge, you can log those trips you make while out of state. If you are unsure about your situation, feel free to contact us.

The Get There Challenge is 15 days long.

You can win prizes by unlocking Early Bird Achievements (Sept. 5-30) that qualify individuals for prize drawings or being part of one of the top teams.

For a chance to win a weekly prize, teams must be the first to log 40 trips each week of the Challenge. Teams must log their trips by 11:59 pm (PDT) on Sunday, October 8 and 15 to be eligible for a top team category and weekly prizes.

For a chance to win a grand prize, teams must fall into one of four “top team categories” at the end of the Challenge (Oct. 15), listed below:

  • Team with the highest score (avg trips per member) logged at the end of the Challenge will win $1,000 (split evenly among team members).
  • Team that reduces the most drive-alone miles will win $100 Clever Cycles gift cards and water bottles + Get There swag for each team member.
  • Team that saves the most CO2 will win $100 River City Bicycles gift cards for each team member.
  • Team that logs the most vanpool trips will win $25 Visa gift cards for each team member.

Teams will have until 11:59 pm (PDT) on Friday, October 20 to retroactively log trips for Oct. 1-15. If there is a tie, the team that reached the highest score first will win.
